Spits Foundation Fellowship Application
The Spits Foundation invites outstanding researchers to apply for a fellowship.
This fellowship is intended for academics with a strong research reputation and a proven scientific impact who aspire to conduct innovative and groundbreaking research. The research must be conducted at Amsterdam UMC or the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
> Have successfully completed their PhD.
> Have a proven academic track record, as evidenced by high-quality publications, research impact, and relevant experience.
> Have the ambition to develop a substantively compelling, innovative research proposal that aligns with their expertise and experience.
The Spits Foundation gives preference to candidates who wish to propose an original research idea and who, based on their track record, can convincingly demonstrate that they are capable of successfully carrying it out.
Support and Duration
The Spits Foundation offers two attractive grant programs for promising scientific research.
> Research Grant (2–3 years)
For innovative research projects, the Foundation provides grants with an average funding of €300,000 over a period of 2 to 3 years. This grant is intended for projects that have already been substantiated by convincing preliminary research.
> Seed Grant for Preliminary Research and Data Generation
To give new research ideas a flying start, the Foundation also offers a grant of €100,000 to conduct preliminary research and generate initial research data. This grant helps researchers lay a solid foundation for larger research programs and future funding applications.
Required Documents
Applicants are requested to submit the following documents::
> Curriculum Vitae (CV).
> Abstract of the research proposal.
> Complete list of publications.
> At least two detailed letters of recommendation, written by senior researchers or academic referees who are familiar with the applicant’s work.
All documents must be emailed in a single submission to aanvragen@spitsfoundation.nl.
Application Process
Applicants should use the preliminary application form, which can be downloaded above.
Selected applicants will be notified no later than two weeks after submitting the preliminary application whether they may submit a full application (which will be sent separately at a later date).
Grant recipients are selected by the board, with input from external experts as needed.
